International PhD in Chemistry Studies
at the Institute of Physical Chemistry
of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw, Poland

Graduates of Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, and related university faculties, holding a Master of Science or equivalent degree, both experimentalists and theoreticians of outstanding aptitudes and strong motivation for research work, are invited to join the International PhD in Chemistry Studies.

The admittance to the Studies is conditional on the result of the qualification interview. Last year M.Sc. students are also invited for the interview.

We propose interesting fundamental research topics combining physics and chemistry, including:


Program of the International PhD Studies

We offer:

  • high quality research opportunities
  • up-to-date research apparatus and computational facilities in recently renovated and modernized research laboratories, in particular specialized laboratories;
  • scientific collaboration with renowned research centers in Poland, and in the EU states, USA and Japan;
  • scientific and research training in Poland and abroad as part of the International PhD Studies;
  • reasonably light teaching duties;
  • frequent contacts with research supervisors;
  • friendly and encouraging atmosphere.

The Studies last four years. Program of the International PhD Studies is prepared individually for each PhD student on the basis of the Regulations of the International PhD Studies. Monthly remuneration of a PhD student depends on the progress of research work. Nonresident students are entitled to accommodation allowance. The Institute offers rooms in its own student hostel at reasonable prices. The best graduates from the International PhD Studies are referred to postdoctoral positions abroad and after their return they are given priority of employment in the Institute.

Depending on the education profile of the candidate, the qualification interview covers fundamentals of chemistry or physics in the scope of appropriate courses at higher education institutions and test in the English language consisting in the translation of a simple English text relating to chemistry or physics into the Polish language. Qualification interviews are held once a quarter - the nearest interview on 21 May 2012, at 9 a.m. Candidates interested in the interview are requested to contact the Secretariat of the Institute earlier, from Monday to Friday 8.00-15.00.
